Vaca Muerta Argentina ke Neuquén province mein aik bari shale oil aur gas formation hai. Yeh North America ke bahar sab se bari unconventional oil reserve hai. Yahan se tel nikalne ke liye special technology chahiye hoti hai (hydraulic fracturing), is liye foreign investment bohot zaroori hai.
Brent crude price US$ 138 se gir kar US$ 80 tak (April to June 2026). RIGI ke tahat Vaca Muerta projects ka breakeven point kam ho jata hai: individual wells ke liye US$ 51 se US$ 48 tak, aur complete projects ke liye US$ 61 se US$ 57 tak.
Government ke mutabik yeh "predictability" ki aik signal hai international investors ke liye. RIGI long-term stability guarantee karta hai.
Critics ka kehna hai ke yeh model aik "enclave" type activity hai: resources extract kiye jate hain imported technology se (jiska RIGI ke tahat 0% duty hai), aur financial profit bahar bhej diya jata hai instead of reinvesting in country's industrial development.
Deadline for RIGI applications: July 2027. Minimum investment for onshore: US$ 600 million.
