President Javier Milei called a meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with deputies and senators from his party, La Libertad Avanza, at the Casa Rosada (the seat of the Argentine executive branch). The purpose was to outline the Government's legislative roadmap. The meeting was led by Karina Milei, the Secretary General of the Presidency, who presented the team that will accompany her management in this new political phase.
Key participants included the new Chief of Staff Diego Santilli - who took office on June 30 following the resignation of Manuel Adorni - the presidential spokesperson Adrián Ravier, the President of the Chamber of Deputies Martín Menem, and the head of the Senate bloc Patricia Bullrich.
Milei announced he is working with teams from the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Deregulation and Transformation of the State on a proposal to modify the Charter of the Central Bank (BCRA). According to the president, the goal is to return to the original spirit of article 3, which established that the "fundamental mission of the Central Bank was to defend the value of the currency".
The president criticized current regulations for allowing money issuance "for any reason" and noted that recent reforms transformed the institution into an "instrument of economic policy" with multiple objectives he considers unviable. In previous statements at Fundación Faro, Milei argued that the BCRA "was born from a scam" and was used as a rescue tool for powerful sectors.
During the meeting, Karina Milei presented the team that will work alongside her in legislative coordination:
This meeting took place two days after Diego Santilli assumed the role of Chief of Staff, replacing Manuel Adorni, who resigned on June 27, 2026 following a scandal involving a 775% increase in his personal wealth. Santilli, 59, a former Vice Mayor of Buenos Aires City (2015-2021), was confirmed with the support of 14 allied governors. The Government aims to consolidate its legislative agenda with the support of the PRO party and other allied forces. For context, the Casa Rosada is the executive mansion and office of the President of Argentina, equivalent to the White House in the US.
