Franco Colapinto's Spectacular Start at Silverstone

The Formula 1 weekend at the legendary Silverstone circuit is delivering high emotions for Argentine fans. On July 4, 2026, Franco Colapinto proved why he is one of the greatest promises in world motorsport with a spectacular start in the Sprint race of the British Grand Prix.

According to Infobae, the 22-year-old driver started from 14th place but reacted with millimeter precision in the first meters, gaining nothing less than five positions and momentarily running in 9th place.

The Overtakes Explained

On the main straight, Colapinto in his Alpine A526 took advantage of his rivals' issues and overtook the Audi cars of Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. A few corners later, he left behind Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls) and Isack Hadjar (Red Bull Racing), before getting ahead of Liam Lawson after an intense battle.

However, the car's performance gradually declined. On lap six, Hadjar recovered the lost ground with the power of his Red Bull, dropping Franco to 12th place, where he crossed the finish line after completing the 17 laps of the Sprint, finishing almost a second behind his teammate Pierre Gasly (11th).

The Constructor Championship Alert

The Enstone-based team remains fifth in the championship with 57 points, but Racing Bulls closed the gap after scoring a point with Lawson's eighth place, leaving them with 45 units. The fight for the top positions is getting hotter.

Schedules and How to Watch Main Qualifying

After an intense Sprint session, the cars will hit the track again this Saturday to define the starting grid for the main race, which will take place on Sunday, July 5, at 11:00 AM Argentine time (52 laps).

As detailed by Motorsport.com, since there is no third free practice session (FP3) due to the Sprint format, every detail in qualifying will be crucial. The session to fight for pole position will start today, July 4, 2026, at the following times:

Country / RegionStart Time (Qualifying)

Broadcast and Historical Data

For fans in Argentina, qualifying can be followed on Fox Sports Argentina and ESPN via Disney+, as well as the official F1 TV platform.

The Silverstone circuit has a rich history of pole positions. Lewis Hamilton dominates the record with seven poles, while Spaniard Fernando Alonso has three (achieved in 2005, 2006 with Renault, and 2012 with Ferrari). Among constructors, Ferrari leads with 12 poles at this track.
