Velas y flores blancas en un cementerio al atardecer, ambiente de duelo respetuoso con luz suave
The small agricultural town of Tres Isletas, located in the northern Argentine province of Chaco (approximately 1,000 km from Buenos Aires), has been left reeling after a horrific act of family violence. Pamela Magalí Gauna, a 28-year-old woman, lost her life at the hands of the person who gave her life: her mother, Irma Gladis Pérez, 58.
The crime took place inside the family home and was uncovered when the accused woman herself called her brother to confess. He immediately contacted authorities, leading to her arrest.

Chaco is a province in northeastern Argentina, known for its hot subtropical climate and agricultural economy. Tres Isletas is a small town of roughly 20,000 residents, where everyone knows each other—making this crime even more shocking to the tight-knit community.
The province has struggled with high rates of poverty and limited access to mental health resources, factors that experts say can contribute to family violence cases.
On her Facebook profile, Pamela had written a phrase that now strikes with tragic irony: "Mi mamá lo es todo"—Spanish for "My mom is everything." Those words, once an expression of love, now carry a painful weight.
Neighbors reported that mother and daughter lived together and appeared to have a good relationship, adding to the community's confusion and grief.
Friends, family members, and neighbors have shared emotional tributes on social media:
"My friend since kindergarten. Rest in peace, dear Pamelita. A kiss to the sky."
"I hold onto your smile and all the love you gave me, Pame. I will miss you forever, my beautiful skinny girl."
"Pame was sweetness personified. She must already be resting in God's arms."
Escuela de Educación Técnica N°20 (E.E.T. N°20)—a technical secondary school in Tres Isletas—issued a statement mourning Pamela's death and expressing solidarity with her father, who is a teacher at the institution.
"We accompany with affection, respect, and solidarity her father, relatives, friends, and loved ones in this difficult moment," the statement read.
The Iglesia de Dios Pradier 810, a local evangelical church, also expressed their condolences:
"We extend sincere condolences for the loss of Pame Gauna, a young woman from our congregation. She will always remain in our hearts."
A family member asked the community for privacy and respect: "We are going through deep pain after what happened in my family... Please, do not make comments if you do not know how things happened. Only God knows and can judge each person for their actions."
