The automotive connectivity ecosystem continues to expand across the country. According to CESVI Argentina, as reported on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the OnStar platform has reached nearly 135,000 connected vehicles in Argentina, with a year-on-year growth of 70%.
This figure reflects a growing trend toward the digitalization of the driving experience and the adoption of active safety technologies. The brand, owned by Chevrolet, offers roadside assistance, emergency response, vehicle recovery, and remote management through the myChevrolet app.
Numbers That Impress
The CESVI report highlights striking figures from the last year of operations:
- 9,921 emergency calls handled by the response center.
- 72 automatic assists in cases of collision or system activation.
- 56 vehicles recovered thanks to the anti-theft system and satellite tracking.
- 2.3 million interactions in the myChevrolet app.
- +75% usage of Safe Companion, a feature that lets drivers share their trips in real time with trusted contacts.
What is OnStar?
OnStar is a connectivity and safety service integrated into Chevrolet vehicles. It works through a button in the rearview mirror and a mobile app, allowing drivers to contact a 24/7 assistance center, perform remote diagnostics, lock or unlock doors, track the vehicle in case of theft, and receive automatic notifications in the event of an accident.
In Argentina, the service is available on models such as the Onix, Cruze, Tracker, and S10, among others.
A Service Growing Steadily
The 70% year-on-year growth is no coincidence. The company has expanded its connectivity infrastructure, improved the mobile app, and added new features, such as service mode and remote vehicle control. Additionally, integration with the 4G LTE Wi-Fi system turns cars into internet hotspots for up to 7 devices.
According to data from the consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, the connected vehicle market in Latin America will grow at an annual rate of 25% toward 2030, and Argentina ranks among the countries with the highest adoption of these technologies in the region.
