A New Chapter for Foldable Phones

On July 24, 2026, during the Galaxy Unpacked event in London, Samsung – the South Korean electronics giant – unveiled its next-generation foldable lineup: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8, alongside the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2. With these launches, Samsung aims to reinforce its dominance in the foldable niche, a segment that could soon see competition from Apple, which is rumored to release its first foldable iPhone in September 2026.

According to CNN en Español, Drew Blackard, Samsung’s senior vice president of mobile product management, stated that Apple’s entry into the foldable market could actually benefit the entire category by drawing more consumer attention.

Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra: Key Upgrades

The Galaxy Z Fold8 adopts a wider, shorter passport-like shape for improved ergonomics and media consumption. When closed, it features a 5.5-inch external display; opened, it reveals a 7.6-inch internal screen. It weighs just 201 grams and measures only 4.5 mm thick when unfolded.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra targets maximum productivity with an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch cover screen. It is 4.1 mm thick when open and weighs 215 grams. Its standout feature is a 200-megapixel main camera capable of recording 8K video using the APV codec.

Both models incorporate Flex Titanium – a titanium alloy layer that improves durability and reduces the visible crease. They also introduce silicon-carbon batteries: 4,800 mAh for the Fold8 and 5,000 mAh for the Ultra, both supporting 45W fast charging.

Exclusive Colors on Samsung.com

  • Fold8 Ultra: Night Violet, Graphite, White, and Night Green (online exclusive with gift case).
  • Fold8: Lavender, Graphite, White, and Pistachio (online exclusive).
  • Flip8: Pink, Graphite, White, and Mint (online exclusive).

Galaxy Z Flip8: Ultimate Portability

The Galaxy Z Flip8 retains the clamshell design, becoming the thinnest and lightest in its class at 6.1 mm open and 180 grams. Its 4.1-inch FlexWindow cover screen allows multitasking without opening the device, while the internal display measures 6.9 inches. It features a 50 MP main sensor and a 4,300 mAh battery.

Artificial Intelligence: Gemini Nano 4

All new devices run Gemini Nano 4, Google’s on-device AI model supporting over 140 languages. Users can ask the AI to perform actions across more than 40 compatible apps, such as booking tables or purchasing tickets. The Gemini Notebook tool analyzes files and generates summaries or podcasts. Buyers receive six months free of Google AI Pro.

Smartwatches and AR Glasses

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2, built in titanium, offers an 800 mAh battery and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, ideal for extreme sports. The Galaxy Watch9 comes in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes with 3,000 nits brightness and advanced health features like sleep apnea detection. Both debut the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor built on a 3nm process.

The surprise of the event was the new smart glasses developed with Google, Qualcomm, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster. Powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, they weigh only 50 grams and include a camera and real-time AI assistance. They are expected to launch in the fall of the Northern Hemisphere.

The new devices are available for pre-order now and will hit stores in Spain starting August 7, 2026. The promotional period, offering up to €1,146 in trade-in benefits for foldables through the Entrega y Estrena program and PayPal discounts, runs until August 6, 2026.
