Keiko Fujimori Elected President of Peru in Historic Election

The Fujimorista leader won the runoff with 50.13% of votes, a margin of just 49,641 ballots over Roberto Sánchez. This marks her fourth candidacy after three consecutive defeats. Fujimorismo returns to power after 25 years. The inauguration is scheduled for July 28, 2026.

Keiko Fujimori Elected President of Peru by Narrow Margin

Right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori has been proclaimed President of Peru after obtaining 50.13% of votes against 49.86% for Roberto Sánchez. The difference was only 49,641 votes in one of the closest elections in the history of the Andean nation. She will assume office on July 28.
