Mendoza, a world-renowned wine-producing province located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains in western Argentina, is currently experiencing a severe winter storm. Authorities reported that the General Directorate of Schools (DGE)—the provincial education authority—made the preventive decision to suspend in-person classes due to heavy snowfall, rain, and impassable roads leading to educational institutions.

To ensure learning never stops, the DGE has arranged for school activities to be held virtually via the Escuela Digital Mendoza platform. This tool allows students and teachers to maintain pedagogical continuity safely from the warmth of their homes.
The snowstorm had already caused complications days prior. On July 19, 2026, a similar storm left 23 people trapped in the high mountains. Fortunately, they were successfully rescued by emergency teams, demonstrating the high efficacy of the province's safety protocols.
