Modus Operandi
The events allegedly took place on September 18, 2026. The perpetrator reportedly approached the 12-year-old child in the courtyard of a social housing complex—common residential areas in the city's periphery.
Using a scooter (monopatín), the man convinced the boy to go for a ride, subsequently transporting him to Parque dell'Arrivore, where the assault occurred. In a desperate attempt to buy the victim's silence, the suspect allegedly took the boy to a local minimarket to purchase food and drinks.
Investigation & Confession
The arrest was a coordinated effort between the Squadra Mobile (the specialized mobile unit of the Italian State Police) and the Barriera Nizza police station.
During interrogations, the 20-year-old man admitted to the crime. While he claimed that the use of narcotic substances influenced his behavior, the prosecution maintains that the act was planned, citing the deliberate relocation of the minor to an isolated area.

With a full confession on the table, prosecutors are expected to request extended preventive detention. The legal process will now move toward psychiatric evaluations to determine if drug use serves as a mitigating factor or if the suspect poses a continuing danger to society.
