A Historic Day for Peru

According to local media and the Peruvian Foreign Ministry, on July 28, 2026, Keiko Fujimori will assume the constitutional presidency of Peru for the term 2026-2031. This marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first woman to serve as head of state in the Andean nation.

The transfer of command ceremony, which coincides with the 205th anniversary of Peru's Independence, will feature a robust international presence aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and projecting a new era of stability and cooperation in the region.

International Leaders in Attendance

The official agenda, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expects the arrival of at least ten heads of state and government. Among the confirmed authorities who will participate in the protocolar acts are:

  • Nasry Asfura (President of Honduras)
  • Daniel Noboa (President of Ecuador)
  • José Raúl Mulino (President of Panama)
  • Yamandú Orsi (President of Uruguay)

In addition, the presence of His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain stands out. He participated in the previous diplomatic agenda by meeting with the elected president at the Palace of Torre Tagle. The New Ministerial Cabinet

After the swearing-in before the Congress, scheduled for 12:15 p.m., the new president will deliver her first message to the Nation from the hemicycle. Subsequently, around 4:30 p.m., the swearing-in of the new ministerial cabinet will take place in the grand dining room of the Government Palace.
